I am very happy to say that we have a guest on today’s blog post! That guest is Jonah who is the boy in the family that I nanny for. He was very excited to come up with his very own Easter craft idea. I want to point out that not only did he put together the idea, but he also showed Rebecca and I how to make this craft step by step. I was so happy to see him interested in coming up with this idea. I also feel that he did an amazing job with this and I am now happy to walk you through the steps. I hope that you enjoy all of the pictures of the steps with my two lovely helpers Jonah and Rebecca. The craft that Jonah came up with is a Chick that is able to pop up and down from it’s cracked Easter Egg!
The Supplies:
- Tape
- Black Sharpie
- Pencil for drawing
- Green Paper
- Yellow Paper
- Black Paper
- Another color of your choice ( this will be for your Easter Egg)
- Popsicle Stick
- Scissors
The Steps:
The first step is going to be to draw out on the green paper grass going across, this will need to be long enough to cover the bottom part of your egg. We were able to adjust ours when you decided how big we wanted our eggs to be!
The you can use your piece of grass to see how big you want to make your Egg. Use your pencil to draw out your egg on the color paper that you have chosen to use.
Cut out your egg. We all chose different sizes to make. Then you will want to make a zig-zag cut across the middle of your egg.
Now it is time to tape the bottom half of the egg shell onto the back of your grass.
Time to cut out a small strip of black paper, this is going to be taped in an arch so that way you can pull the Popsicle stick up and down through it. You will not want it to be arched much.
Time to take your Popsicle stick and tape it near the bottom part of the other egg shell.
The next step is to draw out your chick that will be popping out off the egg. You can make it whatever size that you feel looks good with your egg. Then you will cut out your cute chick!
It is now time to go ahead and tape your chick on to the Popsicle stick, a good idea is to tuck some off the chick under the egg shell. When you have that done you can draw your eyes on the chick as well.
Time to put the Popsicle stick into the slot in the bottom of the egg and pull it all the way through to close the egg.
There you have it! Enjoy you Chick puppet and leave a comment if you decided to make this with your kids! Have a great Easter weekend!
