I have had on my to do list for a long time that I wanted to do a complete clean out and organization of my walk in pantry. With the motivation from Rebecca, the youngest that I nanny for who wanted to help, I have started phase 1. Last week Rebecca came over and we got to work. The reason that I am saying Phase 1, is because we did only the shelves with the food on it.
The first step was to get all of the food items pulled out off of the shelves, and tossing out the expired food. I have to say that seeing the amount of food that I had to toss from being out of date was definitely startling. The process of removing all the food too awhile! We than grouped the food into different groups which would make it easier to put back on the shelves.
My dinning room table filled up fast so we had to put food by the couch as well! After all the food was pulled out and sorted there was a mandatory break. So, Rebecca and I watched a couple episodes of Spongebob. Then it was back to work.
I wiped all of the shelves down so that they were nice and clean for the restocking. I moved some of the food products into different storage containers where it worked. Rebecca did a great job stacking all of the coffee K cups into the baskets.
Then we formed an assembly line and as I called out the different groups, Rebecca brought them over and I was able to place them on the shelves where I wanted to. I have some foods that I need to restock on so I am sure things will be shifted around. I am so happy with how it turned out and it is so nice to have the food all organized and easy to find now!
Phase two is going to be the back of the pantry and the shelf that is above it. I will not be tackling that until after Labor Day! I hope that you enjoyed this story and maybe you were able to get some ideas for your pantry as well! I will be back to post about Phase 2 so stay tuned!
