Hello and Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone! I know not everyone celebrates this holiday. I personally celebrated in different ways in my 20’s! I was sitting at the table at work yesterday and asked if Rebecca wanted to pick out a craft to do to help me out with the blog. She of course was excited and more than filling to help out. The craft that I will sharing with you today is making your own stuffed Taco! Rebecca and I laughed and were having a good time making this craft! Hope you are able to make this today and while making talk a little bit about Cinco de Mayo. At the end of this craft I am going to list a few fun facts about this holiday that you can share with your little ones!
Supplies:
- Red Paper
- Green Paper
- Yellow Paper
- Brown Paper
- Black Marker
- Scissors
- Glue Stick
Steps
- Fold your brown paper in half.
- Cut your paper into a taco shape, leaving the bottom part uncut to keep both sides together.
- Next we will take the green and cut it into strips for the lettuce. You can make this longer strips, smaller ones, or even squares.
- Then grab your red paper and cut small squares out to represent the tomato in your taco.
- Time to grab your yellow paper next and cut into thinner strips for the cheese
- The last paper to grab is your brown and cut small squares to represent the beef inside the taco. If you want to make this a meat free taco you can just skip this step.
- Now it is time to draw the face on your taco. Use your imagination and get creative with your face! Rebecca and I each took different approaches with our faces!
- Here comes the fun part, putting your food into your taco, there is no rhyme or reason to this. We both did different looks to this!
Now you have your Tacos and I hope that you had fun making them! Time for the fun facts about Cinco de Mayo to share with your kids!
- Cinco de Mayo means 5th of May in Spanish
- It celebrates the anniversary of the battle between the Mexicans and the French in 1862
- Kids get off school in Mexico for this holiday
- Americans eat Millions of Avocados on this holiday
- The holiday is more celebrated in the United States than in Mexico
- The official dish of this holiday is called Mole Poblano: a dark red sauce usually served with chicken
Have an amazing day and Happy Cinco de Mayo!
