Waking up and getting to go out on the balcony and enjoy the amazing views, sounds, and smells of Tampa. Today was a day that Joe and I were going to be able to hang out with my cousin Craig. I was so excited to be seeing him because it has been forever and I was even more happy to have Joe meeting him for the first time.
We relaxed around the condo for the morning and watched some episodes of Sister Sister, I loved that show as a kid! In the early afternoon we took the drive to go to the beach. We decided to check out Treasure Island Beach. The drive there was nice and easy and just a little over 30 minutes from the condo. Parking can be a little crazy when trying to get to the beach, but on the third attempt of checking out the different lots we were able to find a spot.
Since it is off season right now, the spot that we picked was not really busy on the beach. I was happy to be able to set up our own little spot and to not have it be over crowded. The sand was so white and pretty. Joe and I walked into the water and we were surprised at how warm the water is. The temperature of the water reminded me of being in a nice bath.
When we were walking back from the water to our blankets we were actually able to see a sea turtles nest being blocked off. I have heard and seen about them on different animal documentaries, but it was really interesting to see in person! I did take a picture of it so I will post it below.
My cousin met us at the beach and we were able to sit and catch up some and then we all went back in the water. After awhile we were starting to get really hot and hungry. So, Craig suggested that we all go to Gulf Port and we could eat at a bar and grill called O’Maddy’s.
The food was absolutely delicious and the price wasn’t bad at all. I ordered the Reuben Sandwich which came with fries. Joe had a side salad and the Lobster Mac n Cheese which came with a piece of toast. Everything came out looking so good and was nice and hot and filling!
After eating dinner we went over to the pier and walked out to see the water. We got to see some pelicans and the water was so clear that we could see the moss in the shallow parts. There were lots of boats anchored for the evening and even some people on row boats and kayaks.
After seeing everything in Gulf Port, we headed towards St. Pete’s pier to experience that as well. The drive there was not long at all and luckily we were able to find a parking space fairly easy.
There was different entertainment among the pier from people dancing and doing flips to some pretty talented singers. They had some great sights as far as statues and lit up areas as well. This plane statue that I am posting below was really interesting to see.
The sunsets in Florida did not disappoint they always had many shades of pink in the sky. We were often out and about when we would see them and they always caught our eyes.
When it started to get dark and we were walking to the edge of the pier it just looked like you were looking into a massive amount of blackness between the sky and the water. There was a full moon that night too so when it was finally out from the cloudy sky it looked so bright and awesome.
Then is was time to say goodbye to my cousin and head back to Tampa. The ride was about 35 minutes, and it was nice to see all the lit up stuff on the drive home. When we got back to the condo we got showered and relaxed a little before falling asleep. Tomorrow will be the post about day 3, which was a day that was spent in Clearwater, Florida.
