I wanted to jump on here today to wish you all a Happy 4th Of July! This year was the first year that we actually had something for the holiday at the house since before Covid. I had just the immediate family here. We started off with buffalo chicken dip, a veggie tray, and a fruit tray for appetizers. My dad grilled the hot dogs and burgers. There was pasta salad, German potato salad, beans, and cucumber salad. For dessert we had a Cherry Crumb Pie, cookies, and brownies.
It was so nice to be able to all sit down at the dinning room table and enjoy each others company. There were 9 of us there so of course there were multiple conversations happening at once. But, it was amazing to see everyone smiling and under one roof.
I am currently typing this post out while I am sitting on my front porch with only the hanging lights on.There is nothing like sitting on the front porch with a cold seltzer in hand! I am taking in all the sounds of the fireworks happening around me. I have to say that I love the sounds of the sizzling and crackling fireworks the most. There really aren’t any fireworks that are visible yet but, I am holding out hope to see something!
I have to say that it is really hard to get fully into the 4th of July mood with what is going on in the world around us. I am not one on really publicizing my political thoughts but, I will say that it really is tough to celebrate. But, I am very grateful that I was able to get together with my family and be able to shut my brain off and enjoy their company.
I am going to randomly end this post with an adorable picture of Miss Daisy sleeping after all the excitement.
